This was a pic I took last year on Joe and I's (not sure if that is proper english) anniversary. We celebrated 11 years of marriage. You know it's funny, when you meet and fall in love and first get married you feel like you know everything there is to know about this person and you love every bit of them and you could never love them anymore than you love them right in that moment. But to be honest, I love Joe even more now than I ever did then. I mean there are times when I may not 'like' him (lol, and I know he could say the same for me), but one thing is for sure, no matter what, I will always, always love him. Just like I have said in the past, marriage is work, it is a daily grind for real, and I know that as long as I have breath this is one job I will never quit. We have literally grown up together and I wouldn't choose anyone else to go the rest of the way with. I love you man...

New Year, New Dreams, New Goals, 2012

Hey....Hello out there....Is any one still listening????

If you are, this post is for you. If you're not, well, I completely understand. I am not sure I would've kept reading this severely neglected blog myself. First off let me start out by saying that I'm sorry it has taken me so long to come back to this blog. I am here and have been here, but for some reason have not written anything for quite some time. I know I've got a bit of explaining to do so let me go on and jump in. You see basically what had happened was that I just got off track. Life started happening to fast and my photography ended up taking a back seat to everything else. I think on top of being overwhelmed with life and all that it entails I made the mistake of letting a little bit of doubt and discouragement settle in. Sure, they had come to visit me before, but it was only for a brief stay then they were gone. However this time they came to visit and they stayed. Truth be told, both unwanted visitors are still here...

To me, this 365 was starting to feel like a curse more than a blessing. I was starting to feel like instead of being inspired to take a picture everyday I was being required to take a picture everyday and that in itself felt like a huge burden some days. I was feeling stressed to get a picture done everyday, and if for some reason the day got away from me I was just taking some random junk and hoping it looked okay. And to me that wasn't right...

I don't know what my future looks like in photography right now today. I do know that I want to jump back in, but I also know that I am struggling to just pick my camera up. I think at this point I am not going to try and catch 365 up, I am just going to let it be. I may post up some highlights of my favorites that have never gone up, And who knows, I may just do another 365 because I did learn so much during that time, or maybe a 52 week project where I take one picture a week. I don't know. One thing I do know is that I will take the pressure off of myself by maybe posting some (but not all) pics or maybe no posting at all. Instead of being so overt with it, this time I want to be a little more covert with it and post at my pace without strict deadlines that make me feel like I can't get it done....

So anyway, it's now 2012, a new year with new dreams and new goals for everyone, including me. I want to get out of this funk, need to get out of this funk, will get out of this funk, and start with something fresh. So, thank you to all of those (if any) that have stuck with me, and are still listening. And thank you to me for giving me a second chance (again)...

I pray that your new year be blessed and full of all that He has to offer...

Me playing catch up. I haven't given up yet. I am not sure if this 365 is encouraging me or discouraging me. I am still trucking along I have just lost a little steam in posting. It seems like the more I try to devote time to this project and its components the more I feel like it is a burden and I am struggling to find things to take pictures of. I really think I am just in the thick of it and I can't see anything. Pray for me ya'll. I need it, on alot of things....

Things I love about him:

His obsession with pirates.
That while still obsessed with pirates he has become involved with Spiderman.
The way he calls Special K cereal "chocwate" cereal.
How every morning he ends up in my bed on my pillow taking in all of my oxygen.
How every night we still need to have his "binti" (blankie) before we go to bed.
How when I am in their room saying their prayers with them, he has to lay his head in my lap.
That milk is still his drink of choice.
That he still wants me to pick him up sometimes, just so that he can be held.
That he randomly says "mom, I love you" for no reason at all.
The fact that he can sing the entire Spider man theme song in tandem with me.
That he LOVES old school cartoons like Inspector gadget and He-Man.

Things I love about her:

The freckles on her nose.
How quiet and baby like she is first thing in the morning.
The way she still ends up in my bed by the morning.
How it is taking forever for her front teeth to grow back in ( I love the empty spaces).
That she finally figured out how to comb her hair.
The way she dances when she thinks no one is looking.
How she takes care of her little brother.
How when I told her that she was not going to be one of the little kids on the playground anymore "your a second grader now, you have to help the little ones" she thought about it and then took it in seriously as one of her upcoming duties. ( I couldn't help but smile).
That she is so sensitive to others feelings.
That she still wants to hug me, and is not embarrassed by me yet.
That she is the electronic guru of the family

I love you both for these reasons and so much more....

This is Crystal Cove (http://www.crystalcovestatepark.com/), a state park that we went to visit with some friends a few weeks back. It was soooo beautiful. There were tide pools to look in, as well as plain old beach to lie around on and enjoy the sand and surf.

This is where the tide pools were. At low tide when the water goes out all these rocks are filled with all kinds of interesting water creatures.

Iz was pretty scared and worried about what we would find, he did however venture out and touch a hermit crab shell.

I am loving this summer amongst new friends. With all of our adventures, I know it is our best summer yet. I am hoping these friendships formed will last a lifetime. ♥

Day in L.A.....186/365

A few weeks back the kids and I took a trip to L.A. and spent the whole day down there exploring and running around. Of course there is so much to what is considered "L.A." that I know we have just touched the tip of the ice berg. We had so much fun though, that this is one day trip that will have to be added to the repertoire.

We started out at LACMA (the Los Angeles County Museum of Art), they had some awesome art work, the kids and I really enjoyed ourselves. You would think children and art museum are two things that don't go together, but this time it worked. Nobody touched anything, and no one cried cause they were bored. And actually LACMA has a kids art program that if you join the membership the kids get in free until they turn 18 yrs old, and they get an adult in free with they every time they come. So you know we joined immediately, and this whole visit ended up being free (which is my favorite kind!). For those of you in the LA area, the name of the free program for your kids is called NextGen (like Next Generation). You should definitely check it out.

My favorite piece of the day by Jeff Koons...

After the museum we went to the La Brea Tar pits. The smell was horrendous, it was hard to focus on all the interesting facts. You can see what it's all about here... http://www.tarpits.org/

Ok, so they might have gotten a little weary by the end...

Then after those two places we ended the day at the L.A. Farmers Market. I absolutely LOVED this place!!! Lots to see and do and eat. We will definitely be back here soon.

Watch out now! A couple of weeks ago Olivia attened a week long golf summer camp. She spent time learning chipping, putting, how to keep score and the rules of the game. At the end of the week she got to keep her very own set of lefty clubs.

All, in all she had an awesome time. She even placed in the chipping contest. I was so proud of her. My little superstar.

We are going to keep her lessons up, and we are getting some for Sid too. I told Joe, "the world better watch out we are about to have the Venus and Serena of golf on our hands!" Watch out now!!

We had a good time during the 4th of July weekend. It was spent with family and friends and all the good suff in between...

On the 3rd we were at a family bbq. They had a pool, the kids stayed in that thing until way past dark. It was awesome.

Well it finally came, the last day of our vacation, and boy did we go out in style. We went to Denver and spent the day at Elitch Gardens. We got wet at the water park, played some carnival games, and Joe even got me on a roller coaster. I don't even like roller coasters.... We had so much fun, I know it will be a day the kids will remember for quite some time.

Cousins....

Being up in the Ferris Wheel makes everything even more beautiful.

I had to go up in the bat ride with Sid. I was a little bit nervous, but it wasn't as bad as it looks. Or maybe that's just the way it looks to me.

The man had to try his hand at the hoop games.

Then we had to say goodbye to family.

It was a blessing to see these cousins running around like they had known each other forever, when they had sorta just met. They were like two peas in a pod. This makes me smile, everytime....

Weddings are a wonderful thing, they bring family together and remind us of what we have in one another. I love you all.

You know how you've lived in a place basically forever, and you are so comfortable there that you don't really visit all the tourist spots and don't really have a desire to go just because you are so comfortable right where you are at. Then you leave. But then you come back, and you see an aspect of your former residence that you hadn't seen before and you wonder " why didn't I visit here when we lived here?" That's how Estes Park was for us. It was so beautiful and so peaceful, so God breathed we liteally said "How come we never came here before"..... I wished that we had had just a little more time to enjoy it's beauty at our own leisure, but alas it was not to be, the wedding was over, and life had to get back to normal.

For my cousin A, it was her first visit to Colorado...and I believe it made a good impression on her. :)

Wedding day finally came! Even though the wedding wasn't until way later in the day, everything seemed to move at warp speed. And because I was the Maid of Honor I didn't get to hang out and take pictures all day long (like I would have liked to), I had to attend to my beloved sister. So here are just a few shots that I was able to get of the day.

Juss, you were a most beautiful bride, and I thank you for blessing me by letting me be involved in your big day. The wedding and reception was being held at The Stanley hotel. The Stanley hotel is absolutely beautiful, and not only is it beautiful but it is also famous. It's famous for being haunted and for being the inspiration for the Stephen King novel "The Shining." Yeah, that's right the redrum, movie with Jack Nicholson. Now, me being the scaredy cat that I am, I tried not to focus on the fact that the hotel was haunted and that such a crazy novel was written about it. They even had the movie playing on a continuous loop on one of the hotels t.v channels. Crazy, I know. I think that if I had taken a moment out of the two nights we stayed at the hotel to really think about where we were and what had supposedly happened in the empty spaces there I don't think I would have been able to sleep. Everything would have meant something. All the creaks and groans would have been whispers from a different realm. Good thing for me when a wedding happens you have no time to think, so much is going on that you just have to go with the flow. And that is exactly what happened. We went with the flow.

The view coming around the bend and the first time you see The Stanley is amazing.

Of course all the ladies had to get our nails did before the big day.

We took a flight straight from LBC to the Springs. It marked the beginning of our vacation and the countdown to wonderful wedded bliss for my sister.

Our flight wasn't too bad, and went by relatively quick. The kids didn't get antsy until the end and by then it was almost time to land.

Despite the crowds and the hassle of security, I would take a two hour plane ride over an 18 hour car ride ANY day of the week.

Now, I am not sure what book this will go on, but I know that I have a book somewhere with in me. :) Anyway, I said it here first, this is me coining the phrase "random nothingness that sometimes results in beauty" (just in case anyone may try and steal it later).

A few weeks ago I had the privilege of shooting the ever lovely Mrs. Watts. She got all dressed up and beautiful for me, and then let me follow her around for a couple of hours. Let me tell you, this lady is something else, she has an internal sunshine that just warms me everytime I am in her presence. ;) Here are just a few from her session.

This one is easily my favorite of the day. She looks absolutely goregous!!!!

As I look at this picture I am reminded of time, how fast it goes, how it can't be taken back, and how precious it really is. Taking pictures is a way to record life. A way to capture innocence in it's purest form forever. I love this picture. I love the way these girls have their whole futures ahead of them. I am just so thankful that I had enough sense to capture it, so that many years from now when my girls have grown into women and they aren't necessarily my "babies" anymore I will be able to look back and remember this day for exactly what it was. A moment in time.

Somebody got a "new" bike the other day, and even though it's been around the block a time or two it's actually pretty tight... This boy has been riding his new bike non stop. We ride from the front door to the room to play, we ride to the bathroom to wash our hands for dinner, we ride into the kitchen to get the dinner, and when it's all said and done, we ride back to the bedroom to lay down to sleep. I think it's pretty cute. I really didn't even know he could ride the bike until he got on it and took off. Either way, I am glad this trike came into our lives.

O, and the bell is off the chain. I hadn't see one like it before. I think that's my favorite part...

Ok, I'm gonna be real honest right now...Right now I feel like I am in a picture taking slump. I kinda feel like this 365 is my job. Like I am losing the desire to take pictures. I will go all day sometimes and not even pick up my camera, and then try and rush at the end of the day to get one in for 365. Then I will be mad cause I don't even like the picture that I didn't really put any thought into and rushed to take. Now, tell me, doesn't that seem silly. And then, it takes me like a whole week (or two) just to post stuff up. Sometimes I just want to give up. I don't want to do it anymore. Not just this project, but take pictures at all anymore. I feel like I could just walk away and it wouldn't even matter...

I need some inspiration people. I need it to feel special again. I don't know if it is because I don't have time to focus on myself and the things that I like or what. But by the time I settle down in the evening and get a minute to think I am so exhausted that I usually just fall straight to sleep.

Is this just me or do we all go thru some kind of slump in anything we do?? I don't know...

I'm gonna keep on pushing though. Forgive me, if it gets boring, or slow or indifferent, but just know that I am keeping my word...

Even though we live only about 6 blocks away from the beach sometimes we get so caught up in the hustle and bustle of life that we can go weeks with out seeing it. Well I made it here today, and it's moments like these when the ocean is rumbling sweet nothings, and the setting sun is turning every thing amber that I reflect and remember why God is so good.

Ok, if you couldn't tell, yes I am about a week behind. But I am still here and still in the game.

My mother's day was absolutely lovely. I got my order taken, and had breakfast in bed, got my homemade gifts in bed, listened to a new cd that I wanted . In bed. I didn't get out of the bed until around 11 am. It was awesome. Then that evening we went to dinner, and after dinner we all went for a walk on the beach. What could have been more perfect? Lord, I thank You for this life you have given me. I thank You for the children you have given me, and I thank you for the husband you have given me to share it all with. To be a mommie is the hardest job in the world sometimes, and yet it is most definitely the most rewarding.

* The above picture is the one I took for my 365, then Joe asked for the camera, and the one below is what he took. I love them both, but to be honest I kinda wished I had taken the one he took. :) Oh, well, I guess you can't get them all.

I'm sorry, I have been having an affair. One that started out as nothing, just a glance, a sideways look that somehow turned into something more. I apologize for stepping out on you. No, it's not you it's me, don't cry, I still love you. I am sorry. It seems as if this other thing occupies my mind all.of.the.time. Sometimes, I think about carrying it instead of you. I know, I know, that sounds bad, but hey, I am only human. You have to know you could never be replaced. You were my first love, and that will never change. This love that I have for it is different. It's old school, more mature... in a vintagey kinda way. Can you ever forgive me?

*I've had this Kodak Duaflex for over 3 years now, and up until about a month ago I did not think it worked. Come to find out it does, and I have the film for it. I have been obsessed ever since. I will definitely post up some of the pics that I am able to get with it.

Prelude to summer...103,104,105,106/365

Well, spring break is over and the kids went back to school today. While I am relieved for them to be "occupied," we sure did have fun while they were home. We made crafts, went to the park, got wet in the front yard, had lazy mornings and long late nights. All these things left an aura of summer itching to break thru, and we all are excited about whats to come. I really can't believe school is almost out. I can still remember the first day when uniforms were all shiny and new. But, hey I am getting ahead of my self, out here we still have like a month and a half left. I know in Colorado its down to just weeks. For now though take a little peek at what we did this last week, and enjoy the fun. ;)

We built marshmallow and toothpick creations. There were marshmallows everywhere, big and small. This here is the flintstone's car.

And this started out as a star, but now kinda looks like some prehistoric animal coming to invade planet earth.

New swimsuits mean summer is on the way!!!

Joe joined a baseball team and they play Friday nights.

It's fun to see him running around trying to catch the ball. You know I am cheering on my man, and the kids are having a blast too. We love it.

This is at Santa Monica pier. We had a lot of fun there too. Lots of interesting people.

I hope your spring break was as much fun as ours, even if it was mostly home grown.

This was one of my proudest moments ever as a mother. Olivia was given an assignment in class to write a poem called "I am" and describe herself. I remember hearing her talk about some things she wanted to say, but I never did get to see the finished result. Open house was held last week on Wednesday, and this was the first time I got to see the poem on display outside of her classroom. After I read it I cried. I truly thanked God for what He has given me and for reminding me that Joe and my efforts to be the best godly parents we can be are working. Even if we don't see it every day. So with out further ado here is "I am"...

I am trying to get back on track ya'll. Yes I have taken a picture everyday, but I have fallen behind in posting those pics, which I feel is kinda taking away from 365 just a bit. So, in an effort to get back on track I am going on a posting binge right now. I am only about 9 days behind so this should be fairly quick and easy.

Of course this one is never scared.

And this is my little cowboy. He had been talking about pony rides all week at his school, so when the day finally came he was so ready. :)

I love this picture. It was one I took while trying to do something else, and when I saw it for the first time on the back of my camera, I actually counted it as a mistake and was ready to discard it. Isn't it funny how sometimes He can take those things that we count as something all wrong and turn it into something so right? I am gowing through this lens, I just know it.
